Presentation Night : 21 June 2001 - Lancastrian Suite
The annual club presentation night was again a roaring
success at the Federation Breweries Lancastrian Suite. old boy Michael Laws, now of
Northampton Town, was on hand to present over 500 trophies to a total of 128 players as
the club honoured all players from the Under 10 age group upwards.
A number of individual awards bear mentioning:
Liam Pearson - Andrew Woodcock : Joint league players of the season at Under 10 level.
Tom Berj - Player of Season U11
Gary Gaffing - Player of Season U12
Stephen Biggar - Player of Season U13
Liam Docherty - Player of Season and top goalscorer U14
Lee Farrell - Player of Season U15
Chris Taylor - Player of Season U16
Paul Simpson - Club achievement award.
John Storey - James Slasor Memorial Award
The evening then continued with an elongated disco. Notable sights were Liam Pearson(U10)
grooving, Matthew Coxon and Steven Telford(U12) jiving, and little Darren Gaffing (U7)
putting the grown ups to shame with some nifty moves of his own. Jack Morris` break
dancing was also fairly impressive.
Gavin Jenkins (U14) was soon separated from the two dolly
birds he entered with (at a football presentation!!) and the sight of John Storey doing
the Timewarp was incongruous to say the least. Liam Pearson did it better anyway.
We finished off with the Hokey Cokey and the Conga and the
night was concluded with a majestic Forresterial rendition of American Pie. A success all
around.
